Aaleyah

Aaleyah is a film project we’ve been working on for sometime now and it’s really near and dear to my heart. It’s a story based on the life of a thoroughbred and her sisterhood.
I wrote this piece with my sister Arinola Okusi, a very fine writer and social critic. Aaleyah is a psychological thriller with a healthy mix of drama, comedy and a little tinge of tragedy to make you root for our protagonist, the story touches on very sensitive societal issues, the plot is strengthened with the addition of a few antagonists who make our lead character’s life a living hell. Aaleyah is forced to face her past and deeply rooted fears in order for her to fully come to herself (spoiler alert).

We don’t just want a piece of entertainment but we actually want to make a comment on larger issues like mental awareness, child abuse, gender bias and diverse topics in social circles, in that same spirit we think it’s only natural that the making of this film be a social experience as well. So we look to social platforms to help in the process.
We are delighted to have an amazing crew behind the set and we hope to pepper the mix with additional stellar cast.

We are really excited about this project and we can’t wait to bring it to a screen near you. We’ll appreciate your support as we commence production by getting the word out to as many people as ossible. This would be a movie worth seeing and sharing.
